Misfortune Comes in Pairs for Brown, Brown Motorsports Crew

Tim Brown and the Brown Motorsports crew encountered various setbacks throughout Saturday’s series of events before coming in less-than-desired 15th and 9th place finishes in the two 25 lap events at Bowman Gray Stadium.

With a fast car in both evening practices, things were looking up for The Rocket. Unfortunately, an out of the ordinary qualifying lap for Brown that posted a time of 13.769 seconds placed him to start 17th in the first 25 lap race.

Although Brown maintained fourth position in the point standings, he is closing in on third, a mere 6 points behind the No. 11 car of Zach Brewer.

In the opening laps of the first race, Brown quickly gained positions and made his way up to 14th before the first yellow flag of the event. Although, still far from where he wanted to be, he was satisfied with the handling of the car and stayed focused on making his way through the field. The Rocket wasted no time moving into 13th position on the restart and maintained it through another caution and several more circuits. However, after taking the white flag misfortune struck and he got tangled up in a wreck with there being no where to go, sending him back to 17th place. Brown was able to avoid yet another wreck after the white flag was waved again and crossed the checkered in 15th place.

Lee Jeffreys, winner of the first race, drew 10th for the “Madhouse Scramble”, thus leaving Brown to start 15th in the second race. The green flag waved shortly after 10:15 p.m. Avoiding all wrecks throughout the caution filled race, The Rocket piloted his No. 83 Hayes Jewelers modified to a 9th place finish.

“We haven’t had the year we had hoped for so far, but I would like to thank all my fans for still coming out and cheering us on every week, as well as my sponsors and crew for their continued support through these tough times. We’re going to keep pushing forward and try to get the blue 83 back in victory lane this weekend.” stated Brown.

Despite having had an unlucky few weeks, Brown and crew are focused on going back to the Madhouse this Saturday and trying to win the Renegade 100!
