Brown Finishes 6th, 7th in Twin 25 Races

After fighting an ill-handling car in both 25 lap events on Saturday night at Bowman Gray Stadium, Tim Brown was only able to pilot the No. 83 Hayes Jewelers modified to 6th and 7th place finishes.

The less-than-desired results put Brown a few more points behind in the standings, yet maintaining the 3rd spot.

The series of unlucky events that plagued the No. 83’s evening began in first practice when he felt the car was too loose. The Brown Motorsports crew made some adjustments to the car, and later that evening Brown landed a 3rd place starting position after posting a time of 13.506 seconds in qualifying.

As the sun was setting, hot and humid temperatures remained to greet the starting line up for the first 25 lap race. Misfortune struck early as Brown began to fall back through the field in the opening few laps. Trying to hold on to fourth position, the No. 23 of Brian Loftin made contact with Brown, quickly sending him back to fifth place. The Rocket, struggling with the handling of his modified, radioed to his crew that the car was loose and needed adjustments before the next race. Over the closing circuits, Brown battled with the No. 53 of Jonathan Brown for fifth position before having to close in on sixth, where he remained until crossing the checkered on lap 25.

When 8th was drawn for the Madhouse Scramble, Brown was set to start third in the second 25 lap race. As the green flag was displayed, Brown found himself instantly battling with the No. 40 of Brad Robbins for second position, before being locked in on it by lap 3. Only three circuits later, the event’s first yellow flag was waved.. As the field came around to take the green flag once again, Brown, still in second, closed in, focused on trying to make his way to the lead. However, he quickly found that the handling of his car had not improved from the previous race, and began losing ground. After a few more circuits, the No. 53 of Jonathan Brown made contact with Brown, knocking him out of the groove. Fighting for every position throughout the final series of laps, Brown piloted the No. 83 Hayes Jewelers modified to a 7th place finish.

“I expect more from myself and my team, and will work harder than ever to put the Hayes Jewelers Chevrolet back in victory lane soon. I want to thank all my fans for standing behind me through this season, for it has not gone as well as planned. I set very high goals for myself and my team, and will continue to do so. Five poles and two wins out of eight weeks of racing still is not good enough for me, we must do better.” stated Brown.

Although it hasn’t been the season Brown had hoped for, he won’t give up. The Rocket will return to the Madhouse on July 10 for the Great Clips 100 to try to rally his way to another victory!

Brown Coasts to Second Place Finish in the Renegade 100

Seems as though luck has made a turn for the better for Cana, V.A. native, Tim Brown, after he earned his 5th pole of the season and came in with a second place finish in the Renegade 100 on Saturday night at Bowman Gray Stadium.

The evening began on a high note when Brown put the No.83 Hayes Jewelers modified on the pole for the 5th time of the 2010 season after touring the famed quarter mile in 13.433 seconds. After a redraw for the 25 car field, Brown was set to start on the outside of the third row in 6th position.

The fans were on their feet to greet the starting lineup shortly after 8:45 p.m. As the field came around to the green flag they made it one lap before the caution filled race began, bringing out the first yellow flag of the event. The Rocket displayed his driving skills as he was able to miss the wreck, making his way up to the fourth position. As the green flag waved once again, Brown was quickly trying to move into third when the caution flag fell again after only one more circuit, leaving him in fourth place. Throughout the next several cautions, Brown continued to take the outside row on the restarts and made his way up to the second position by lap 23.

Over the next 44 circuits he was able to hold on to second position, striving to take the lead from the No. 4 of Jason Myers on every restart. As he and Myers came around to take the green flag after a caution on lap 67, they battled side by side for several laps, until finally Brown closed in on the second position once again. As the laps were ticking by, Brown continued to stay closed in on Myers in order to attempt to take the lead. However, with only 20 laps to go he radioed to his crew that there were problems with the car, and he would have to ride it out the remainder of the race. Maintaining his position over the closing laps, Brown crossed the checkered in an impressive second place.

The solid finish for Brown moved him up to the third position in the point standings.

“I am somewhat pleased with the race tonight after we have been caught up in wrecks for the past several races. Second place is a decent rebound. The car was great and the guys have done an awesome job repairing it time after time this season. Hopefully our luck is turning the corner for the better. I am so proud of my fans, my sponsors, and the team for continued support and fast race cars. We as a team will work harder to get the blue 83 Hayes Jewelers car back in victory lane.” stated an optimistic Brown.

Now at the halfway point in the season, things are looking up for the Brown Motorsports crew. With each passing week, they will continue to perfect the car and go attempt to win the race every Saturday. Though not where they hoped to be at this point in the season, Brown and his crew will continue to keep their eye on the prize: The championship! Don’t miss the two 25 lap races at the Madhouse this Saturday, June 26!

Misfortune Comes in Pairs for Brown, Brown Motorsports Crew

Tim Brown and the Brown Motorsports crew encountered various setbacks throughout Saturday’s series of events before coming in less-than-desired 15th and 9th place finishes in the two 25 lap events at Bowman Gray Stadium.

With a fast car in both evening practices, things were looking up for The Rocket. Unfortunately, an out of the ordinary qualifying lap for Brown that posted a time of 13.769 seconds placed him to start 17th in the first 25 lap race.

Although Brown maintained fourth position in the point standings, he is closing in on third, a mere 6 points behind the No. 11 car of Zach Brewer.

In the opening laps of the first race, Brown quickly gained positions and made his way up to 14th before the first yellow flag of the event. Although, still far from where he wanted to be, he was satisfied with the handling of the car and stayed focused on making his way through the field. The Rocket wasted no time moving into 13th position on the restart and maintained it through another caution and several more circuits. However, after taking the white flag misfortune struck and he got tangled up in a wreck with there being no where to go, sending him back to 17th place. Brown was able to avoid yet another wreck after the white flag was waved again and crossed the checkered in 15th place.

Lee Jeffreys, winner of the first race, drew 10th for the “Madhouse Scramble”, thus leaving Brown to start 15th in the second race. The green flag waved shortly after 10:15 p.m. Avoiding all wrecks throughout the caution filled race, The Rocket piloted his No. 83 Hayes Jewelers modified to a 9th place finish.

“We haven’t had the year we had hoped for so far, but I would like to thank all my fans for still coming out and cheering us on every week, as well as my sponsors and crew for their continued support through these tough times. We’re going to keep pushing forward and try to get the blue 83 back in victory lane this weekend.” stated Brown.

Despite having had an unlucky few weeks, Brown and crew are focused on going back to the Madhouse this Saturday and trying to win the Renegade 100!
