The Rocket to Pilot the No. 02 at BGS and Bristol for NWSMT Races

Tim Brown, better known as “The Rocket”, has pondered whether any more of the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour races would be in his remaining schedule for 2010 or not. As of today, he is proud to announce that he will be partnering up with T and C Motorsports to race the No. 02 car in the NWSMT races to be held at Bowman Gray Stadium on August 6th, and at Bristol Motor Speedway on August 18th.

Brown raced in the three NWSMT races that were held prior to the beginning of the 2010 Bowman Gray Stadium season. He did not attend the last NWSMT race, which was held at Caraway Speedway in July. It was uncertain whether he would be able to race in any more of the NWSMT races this season, until he was offered a ride in the No. 02 car. The remainder of the races that are scheduled for the tour, following the race at Bristol Motor Speedway, are being discussed at this point.

“I want to thank Tom and Ryan from T and C Motorsports for giving me the opportunity to drive for them at Bowman Gray Stadium and Bristol Motor Speedway. I feel confident that we can run well together and hopefully contend for some wins right out of the box. I am looking forward to this chance to drive the 02 car for some races in the remainder of 2010.” stated an optimistic Brown.

The NWSMT races at Bowman Gray Stadium and Bristol Motor Speedway will be televised at later dates.

Brown Finishes 10th, 4th under the Full Moon

Although 10th and 4th place finishes were not what Tim Brown and the Brown Motorsports crew were hoping for Saturday night at the Madhouse, they were able to maintain the second position in the point standings. With four races left in the 2010 season, he sits 61 markers behind point leader, Burt Myers.

The Cana, V.A. native and No. 83 team were very positive about the evening after turning quick times in both practices. Brown landed a fourth place starting position for the first 50 lap event after touring the quarter mile in 13.459 seconds.

The full moon was in full effect for the night’s first 50 lap event. As the field came around to the green, Brown quickly found himself fighting for positions on the outside line and was able to close in on sixth by the third circuit. The first of many caution flags was displayed on lap 7. Choosing whether to stay on the inside line, or going to the outside on the restarts was much like rolling a dice. The Rocket raced between fourth and sixth over the first 25 circuits, before bad luck struck. He began to fight a very ill handling car and radioed to his crew that it was very loose before ending up with a cut right front tire. He pulled the No. 83 into the pits for a tire change and to make adjustments on the car under caution, and returned to the rear of the field before they came around to the green. Over the closing circuits, he was able to make his way back up through the field and crossed the checkered in 10th position.

Brown was set to start 10th for the second 50 lap event after 8th was drawn in the Madhouse Scramble. The fans were on the feet to greet the line up once again shortly before 10:30 p.m. Brown wasted no time making his way through the field. He was up to the fourth position by the 12th circuit. Brown felt that he had a car that was capable of taking the win and was determined to make his way to the front, until he got caught up in a scramble in the front of the pack. He found himself once again fighting an ill handling car, but used his talented driving skills to hold his fourth place position until he crossed the checkered on lap 50.

“I am not at all pleased with 10th and 4th place finishes in Saturday night’s races. My team and I will worker harder to perform better. We’re not giving up; we’re going to go back ready to try to win the twin 25 races on Saturday.” stated Brown.

Aside from the less than desired results of the night, Brown and his crew stayed focused on making the car better and finishing the best they could. As we get closer to the end of the season, the team is working harder than ever to make the No. 83 Hayes Jewelers modified the best that it can be. Until the checkered flag falls in the last race of the season, they will continue to chase wins, as well as the championship.

Brown back in Victory Lane after a Wild Night at The Madhouse

After a race that was nothing short of exciting, Tim Brown piloted his No. 83 Hayes Jewelers modified to its 3rd victory of the season in the Great Clips 100 at Bowman Gray Stadium on Saturday night.

The Cana, V.A. native moved up one spot to second in the point standings following his win on double points night. With 6 races remaining in the 2010 season, he sits 55 markers behind point leader, Burt Myers.

Brown proved what a strong car he had in both the morning and evening practices. Later that evening, he collected his 6th pole of the season after touring the famed quarter mile in 13.409 seconds. Brown drew seventh in the full field redraw.

The fans were on their feet to greet the starting line up shortly before 9:00 p.m. Brown lined up to start fifth after two cars that were set to start at the front of the field did not. The Rocket didn’t waste any time showing the potential the No. 83 Rahmoc powered modified had as he immediately clinched fourth position on the first circuit. It was only a matter of nine circuits before the event’s first yellow flag was waved. As the field came around to the cone for the double file restart, Brown lined up on the outside row in fourth position, and quickly closed in on third after taking the green.

Brown maintained third throughout several more cautions. Just past the halfway point of the race, he lined up on the outside of the No. 53 of Jonathan Brown on the front row for a restart. After two more cautions, and battling with the No. 53 and the No. 79 of Teddy Christopher, Brown seized the lead. The closing laps were hard fought by The Rocket, and on lap 104 he took the checkered in first position.

“I told all of my sponsors and all of my fans that we, as a race team, would work hard to get back in victory lane. We worked hard as usual and things went our way tonight. We had a great race car, sat on the pole, and won the race. Thank you all for your continued support.” stated The Rocket.

Brown and crew were very happy to see their luck make a turn on Saturday. As the season progresses, they will continue to keep their eye on the prize. The Rocket will be back on Saturday for the two 25 lap events to try to capture his 7th pole and another victory!
